Abstract
The purpose of this study is to verify the predictability and phonemic representation of key-words in KSPIN and to develop ¡®new test lists¡¯. The effect of contextual clues and 4 SNR conditions(-5, -3, 0, 5 dB SNR) was investigated through ¡®new test lists¡¯ to predict a listener¡¯s ability to understand everyday speech. New lists was verified in 25 normal hearing adults(15 females, 10 males) ranging in age from 23.30 through 29.11 years. The results were as follows£º1) The intelligibility of HP sentences that had contextual clues was always higher than the intelligibility of LP sentences that had no contextual clues. 2) The maximum of HP-LP difference was 15.75 at -3 dB SNR condition. 3) The meaningful separation between HP and LP performance was found at 0, -3 and -5 dB SNR conditions(p<0.05). 4) Interestingly, the performance of female subjects was superior to the performance of male subjects at -5 dB SNR (p<0.05). 5) Collaterally, this study showed the effect of speaker on intelligibility. When speaker was female, the performance was better than male speaker at almost all SNR conditions.
